Chelsea close deal for Portuguese youngster, 5th signing
The player has played for the Portugal Under-21 team. Last season with Basel, the player mainly played as a defensive midfielder.
Chelsea have announced the signing of Portuguese youngster Renato Vega on a long-term deal until mid-2031.
The 20-year-old began his football career with Sporting Lisbon’s youth system in his homeland before making his professional debut on loan at Augsburg in 2023, earning a move to Basel last season, making 26 appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea have made a €14m offer without a sell-on clause to Basel in exchange for the player on a seven-year contract.
Which could be extended by a further year if both parties agree. The player has been officially unveiled by the club.

Vega is capable of playing at left-back, left-sided centre-back and as a holding midfielder, and is the fifth player after Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adrabioyo, Marc Gueye and Omari Kellyman to join the team this season under new coach Enzo Maresca.
The transfer fee has not been disclose it is 14 million euros (approximately 560 million baht). Vega has signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, or until the end of June 2031, with the option to extend the contract for another year.
